Each fall, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requires institutions to submit an Institutional Profile of general information and enrollment data. The profile is based in part on data submitted to the U.S. Department of Education through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System . The report provides summary level information of the full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate headcount on the official Fall freeze date; the full-time equivalence (FTE) of graduate credit, undergraduate credit, and non-credit production; and the number of baccalaureate students admitted six years prior who either completed their degrees or who transfered to another institution.

Among other things, SACSCOC uses the profile to evaluate if an institution is experiencing significant fluctuations in enrollment that could affect its financial stability and ability to maintain quality education. Large enrollment changes might signal concerns about program quality, marketing strategies, or external factors impacting student recruitment and retention.
